Annual Report 2021

In 2021 there were 66 people who donated organs following death. This enabled 191 recipients to receive life-saving kidney, liver, lung, heart or pancreas transplants. Many more people received tissue transplants (cornea, sclera, heart valves and skin) from these donors.

In addition, there were 52 tissue-only donations from people who died in a hospice, hospital ward or at home.

Donation comes from human tragedy and would not be possible without the generosity of family/whānau at a very difficult time. ODNZ sincerely thanks all families and whānau who considered the option of organ and tissue donation.
