“When I was in intensive care after my transplant, I knew then I wanted do this car show to let people know about organ donation and to say thank you to all those involved in my transplant, especially my donor and donor family.
“I met Trelise and her husband through the classic car scene 15 years ago. Lucky for me, Trelise has been extremely giving with her support of the event. She’s a wonderful lady and a fantastic friend,” says Danny.
Many of Danny’s friends have been charitable with their support of the big day which is taking place on Tauranga’s Strand, Saturday 16 March from 9am-3pm.
“I’ve been overwhelmed by the assistance of all my sponsors – including Trelise Cooper, Petrolhead, Caulfield Signs and Graphics and Rita Sue Clothing. It is fantastic that so many classic cars have been entered and there has definitely been a keen interest in the 1950s pin up beauty contest,” enthuses Danny. “I have also been working with the team at Organ Donation New Zealand and they will be there on the day to answer any questions.”
Melanie Stevenson, Communications Advisor for Organ Donation New Zealand, is pleased to be involved with such a unique event.
“It is great to be able to raise awareness about organ donation and encourage every single person to have a conversation with their family about their wishes should they ever be in a situation where organ donation is possible.”
